Developing a specialist visual inspection capability for bridges and associated civil structures, particularly where conventional access is difficult or disruptive. This workstream is being developed around recognised infrastructure inspection terminology, asset-specific requirements, appropriate competence and clearly defined inspection scopes.

Where elevated or difficult access is required, suitably qualified working-at-height specialists can support delivery using the access method appropriate to the asset, task and working environment — including rope access and MEWPs where suitable. Where inspection findings identify potential maintenance or remedial requirements, VIST provides the evidence and appropriate advisory recommendations. If the client subsequently decides to undertake those works, suitably qualified working-at-height specialists can also support appropriate remedial and maintenance activities within VIST's competence and agreed scope.
